Drying time:                           3 hours @ 20°C
Over coating time:                 31/2 hours minimum
Note: These times will be extended under conditions of low temperature and high humidity.
Specification clause
Rubberized bitumen emulsion waterproofed.
The below ground concrete surfaces shall be waterproofed with POLYPROOF RB, a rubberized bitumen emulsion. Two coats shall be applied each at a rate of 1-1.5m per liter providing a total dry film thickness of 250 microns. The two coats shall be applied at right angles to each other.
Application instructions
Surface preparation
All surfaces must be clean, dry and free from dirt, dust, oil and grease. All loosely adhering particles such as rust, scale, cement laitance etc should be removed- All organic growth should be removed using a fungicidal wash, followed by thorough washing with clean water.
POLYPROOF RB should be applied by brush or squeegee to prepared surfaces. Stir well before use, replace lid when not in use. Soak up any spillage with sand or sawdust and wash down surface immediately.
Damp proof membrane and vertical vapor barrier
Apply POLYPROOF RB at the rate of 1-1.5m per liter per coat to a dry film thickness of 200-250 microns. Two coats should be applied, allowing the first coat to dry completely before applying the second. The second coat should be applied at right angles to the first. All applications should be continued up verticals to the existing damp proof course. Ensure the membrane is not punctured or damaged during subsequent operations. Where the surface is to receive a render or plaster finish, a keyed surface should be formed by gritting the second coat of POLYPROOF RB with clean, dry sand. Allow a minimum of 48 hours drying period before plastering, rendering, or laying floor screed.
Flooring adhesive
POLYPROOF RB is a very effective waterproof adhesive for laying wood blocks, cork, asphalt and asbestos tiles. The surface should be clean, sound and smooth and the POLYPROOF RB should be applied to the screed with a notched trowel. Leave for a short period until the POLYPROOF RB
becomes tacky, and then the tiles should be pressed into place. Contamination o f the upper surface of the tile should be cleaned off immediately with a clean cloth.
Follow any special recommendations made by the tile manufacturer carefully.
Adhesive for insulation
POLYPROOF RB is suitable for bonding insulation materials such as expanded polystyrene, fiberboard and cork slabs onto walls and floors. The two surfaces to be bonded must be clean, level and free from all points of contact.
POLYPROOF RB should be applied to both surfaces and allowed to become tacky (colour beginning to change from brown to black). The two surfaces should then be pressed together, using maximum pressure.
Note: POLYPROOF RB is not a structural adhesive, therefore mechanical fixing should be used where appropriate.
Damaged areas of POLYPROOF RB can be readily over coated to restore the continuity of the membrane.
POLYPROOF RB can be removed with clean water. When dry, it can only be removed with POLYCOO Solvent 103*.
Application should not commence if the temperature is below 6°C or above 40'C.
POLYPROOF RB :                  210 liter drums
4m2 per liter per coat @ 100 micron dry film thickness depending upon substrate porosity and smoothness.
Shelf life
Minimum 6 months if stored below 35°C in the original unopened containers.
Storage conditions
Store under normal warehouse conditions (under 35°C) in the original unopened containers.
Health and safety
Some people are sensitive to resins and solvents, so gloves and barriers creams such as Kerodex Ant solvent or Rozalex Ant paint should be used when handling these products. Remove contamination from skin with soap and water or resin removing creams such as Ceruleans Standard Grade Skin Cleanser or Rozacleanse Industrial Skin Cleanser. Follow by washing with soap and water. Do not use solvent. The use of goggles is recommended, but should accidental eye contamination occur, wash thoroughly with plenty of clean water and seek medical treatment immediately.
